Privacy policy

1. Who we are

This privacy notice applies to vautocars.co.uk, operated by Visual Automotive Limited (“we”, “us”, “our”). Our registered office is 46 Gilham's Avenue, Banstead, Surrey, SM7 1QR, United Kingdom.

2. What data we collect

  • Enquiry data — when you submit the enquiry form on a vehicle page, we collect your name, email address, phone number (if supplied) and the message you send.
  • Technical data — your IP address, browser type, and pages visited, captured by our web server for security and reliability purposes.
  • Cookies — we use essential cookies for session handling. We do not run third-party analytics, advertising or tracking cookies by default.

3. How we use your data

When you submit an enquiry, we forward your name, email, phone and message to the dealer selling the vehicle you asked about. The dealer may then contact you directly to answer your question.

We also keep a copy of the enquiry on our systems so we can investigate problems (for example, an enquiry that fails to reach the dealer) and to prevent abuse of the form.

4. Legal basis

We rely on the following lawful bases under UK GDPR:

  • Consent — submitting the enquiry form indicates your consent for us to pass your details to the dealer you have chosen to contact.
  • Legitimate interest — running, securing and improving the marketplace.

5. Data retention

We retain enquiry records for 3 years, after which they are deleted. You may request earlier deletion at any time (see “Your rights” below).

6. Sharing

We do not sell your data. We share enquiry details only with the dealer selling the vehicle you enquired about. We may share limited technical data with service providers (hosting, email delivery) strictly as needed to run the site.

7. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • Be informed about how we use your data.
  • Access a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • Rectify inaccurate data.
  • Request erasure of your data.
  • Restrict processing.
  • Object to processing.
  • Data portability.

8. Contact

For any data-protection request, contact our Data Protection lead: chris@visualautomotive.co.uk.

9. Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. We ask that you contact us first so we can try to resolve the issue.
